There’s Always a Brewer Story…

I want to start off by thanking each of you for your kind thoughts and prayers during the last couple of weeks.  Most of you know that my Pop’s funeral was last Friday and it was a beautiful celebration of life.  There were quite a few old photos showcased during visitation which we all enjoyed.  Here’s my Pop in the Philippines when he was serving in Vietnam.  I love he’s just sportin’ a towel.

But what would the day be without a Brewer story.  Yes, Brewer, the child who my friend Stephanie affectionately said should “have his own sitcom.”

Brewer had charmed my cousin Mandy out of a piece of gum before the service began and since his loyalty lays with the orientation of candy he chose to sit with Mandy during the service in the row behind Pete and myself.

We were about 10 minutes into the ceremony when I turned around to quietly tell Brewer how proud I was of his good behavior… he was being quiet alright, but he’d only been quiet because he was concentrating on unbuttoning every snap on his shirt.  He was actually sitting in his seat bare chested doing a little dance. A dance. Shirtless. During the funeral.

Just when I think nothing could surprise me… Brewer proves me wrong.

  1. I’m sure your Dad and GOD even giggled at that one!

I didn’t know about your Dad’s passing. I’m sorry for the pain. Missing people we love just hurts.

Thank God for Brewer moments to keep it light.

  2. Hugs for your family, Brandi! Love ya!

  3. Glad you are back. I missed coming here for a fun little slice of your life. And a Brewer story to boot!

  4. Maybe Brewer was trying to be like your Pops in that picture? Glad to hear everything went well and I hope it helped with the loss.

  5. I’ve been away…so sorry for your loss.

After my dad’s funeral we had a huge crowd back at my moms house. My then 4 year old daughter strolled right down the central staircase into the crowd wearing just my mother’s slip (with the built in bra)…these moments…they help.

Thinking of you and your family today.

  6. God has a way of bringing peace and laughter through our children, doesn’t He?

  7. I’ve been on vacation, but I figured as much. I did pray for you and your family while I was gone. That’s an adorable story. ~Lori

  24. I wondered how everything went and have been thinking of you. Glad to know the memorial service went well.

Brewer makes me feel a little better about my own son’s antics. After three girls, Hubs and I are completely mystified by some of the things he does!
