One day last week I was inspired by a friend to make play-doh with my kids. I actually couldn’t believe we hadn’t made play-doh before because it’s one of the things I remember my mom always making with my brother and I… homemade play-doh and homemade bubbles.
A five second google search left me armed with a simple recipe and we went to work…

Who knew flour, salt and water would provide so much fun.

Everyone had their own color… Brewer always chooses “lellow.”

Gage usually goes with green because it starts with a “G” just like his name.

And Jett settles on blue because it matches a multitude of his favorite professional sports teams.
The boys loved getting their hands dirty as well as realizing they can make something we normally just purchase. We had lots of laughs, but the biggest laugh came when Gage revealed his creation. Any guesses???

It’s Yoda… and he used the best Yoda voice to provided entertaining commentary.
What’s your favorite fun recipe to use with kids?

Would you mind providing the link of the particular recipe you used? I tried one & it was really sticky. Thanks!
BTW, very cute Yoda.

We do playdough all the time…..next time try adding cinnamon, pumpkin spice, peppermint oil…..it is awesome! We add scents to “match” so pumpkin spice for orange, lemon zest for yellow, cinnamon for brown or red….
love Yoda!

I recognized Yoda before I read your answer! My Star Wars fan husband and son would be so proud of me for knowing and they would also be rather impressed with your son’s masterpiece!

You can add glitter as well for sparkly play dough. But don’t eat it if you do!

Love homemade play dough! Brings back great memories.
Our favorite recipe is Flubber. We make it at birthday parties as an activity that then turns into part of the “party favors” to go home with each child. It’s a hit, even with the adults.
Boys especially will love the “body function sound effects” they can make with Flubber.
