Freeze!!!

Three is one of my favorite stages…

DSC05214

I love the personalities that three-year-olds possess.  They’re potty-trained… transitioning from toddler to child… and they move into a position where they become more of a buddy or partner in crime.  I’ve loved three in each of my boys, they can communicate, they can make choices, they can bargain, and they can comprehend.

Honestly, I think I would freeze Brewer in this stage if I could. He’s the last baby and for this momma there are few things sweeter than a three-year-old.

What’s one of your favorite kid ages?

  1. I totally agree.

And isn’t this the “buttless” child? What’s keeping the belt up?

  2. LOL…this is totally something Mr. Bonk would do! You’re so right! Three year olds are FUN!

    Brewer is such a cutie!

  3. I agree – about 2 1/2 to age 4 are my favorites. I do LOVE newborn babies but toddler/preschool age is so FUN!

I am so amazed by the things that they say – and the imagination really starts to develop and they can “pretend” with you!

Super cute picture by the way!

  4. I have to say that three is my favorite, too. It was at three that:

    - My boy (now 13) dressed in only a diaper, cowboy boots and a hat declared that he was “the naked cowboy!”

    - My girl (now 8) took a red dry erase marker and put dots all over her face and came to me to tell me that she had the “chicken pops!”

Oh how I miss those days!

    Blessings,
    Dori

  5. Honestly, at each “stage” my girls have been at…I have declared it the “best” stage! I thought the baby stage was the best till they got to be a toddler, then preschool was great (for all the reasons you mention) and now that they are in they school years its even better as we have started talking about deeper subjects and i see them developing compassion and empathy, etc.

The only “stage” I didn’t care for was the crawling stage…when they wanted to crawl on grocery store and resturant floors- I was ready for walking at that point! (blech, yucky floors!) And of course we haven’t hit the teen years yet. But honestly…it just gets better and better!!! :)

  6. Okay. That photograph is seriously funny!

Looking back I equally enjoyed various stages of my children’s lives. I can’t pick a favorite. I can however pick a non-favorite. Now! (he’s 21, not going to college, but working – not a good job – and still living at home.)

  7. Tell Brewer he’s brightened up my gloomy day!

12-18 months is my favorite, but that’s the main age group I use to teach so I’m a little biased. :)

  8. I think whoever you take a photo of ends up being my favorite child in my favorite stage that day.

    They’re just so dang sweet!

  9. I love 6-18 months. I love how much they grow into their unique personalities day by day during that time. I also love 4, but 4 is also bittersweet because they are so obviously not babies anymore that year. My oldest is 7 and I’ve found something special about every single year, but those are 2 of my favorites.

  10. Whatever stage I’m in…and that includes now at 15 and almost 19 and graduated!!! I will say, though, that 14 with my youngest was horrible!!! Glad that year is past – by the grace of God!

  11. My two year old was found in her playroom {our mudroom} playing with her toys while sporting a baseball cap, a green “fishing hat” her pink, green, brown and white polka dot leg warmers {babylegs!} Her cinderella underwear and a purple shirt! So, I can totally relate to that picture!

I can’t decide on my favorite stage. But I only have up to year 2 to judge!

  12. @rhonda i feel the same way… i seem to love each stage more than i ever expected i possibly could!

  13. Oh my his little outfit is AMAZING! I love him! H

  14. Every stage was my favorite and every stage has been a challenge!! Honestly, I love every stage–even as 3 teens–19, 17, and 14. Now it’s fun to joke, to have great conversations, to watch them think through choices, and when they really shine, it makes all the challenges worth it!!

  15. My husband would say the same thing as you…he loves the three year old stage. I, however, am really enjoying having teenagers. I was terrified for them to grow up, but now I’m really enjoying it!

  16. i do love my little guy at 9 years old now, but the sweetest stage for us was 6 months to 15 months. his strong will stepped out at 15 months and i had to hold on tight for a while there.

  17. OHMIGOSH I FREAKING LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE this photo. Its amazing watching him grow up!!!!! He is sooooo sweet!

  18. A great photo! Five is my favorite age I think. They are like little sponges and so adorable.

I confess I’ve loved every age (mine are 18 ad 21) with the exception of perhaps 7th grade : )

  19. How cute is he? Seriously.

I have twin two year olds and it is fun but I am hoping it gets a tad easier. Thanks for the hope that three is a blast! But is it easier??? Enquiring mothers need to know???!!!

  20. He. Is. Cute!

Honestly, I’ve always loved 2. None of my kids had “the terrible twos” (3/4 was a more difficult age for them) so they were still babyish but at the same time could talk to me about things and would say the cutest and funniest things.

My youngest (and only boy – I had NO idea how much I would love having a boy) is 2 and I’m savoring every bit of this year.

I’m completely wrapped around his pudgy little finger. Especially, when he puts his arms around my shoulders and says,”I wuv you mama. Is okay. I gotcha.”

    Melt.

  21. I loved two, like Kat.
    I loved three, like you.
I LOVED four…. some of the best quotes came from age four.

But my very favorite age? When the 6 month(ish) old was big enough to sit on the floor unassisted to play but couldn’t move anywhere yet.

    oh sweet freedom. :)

  22. Jackson will be three in September and I told someone the other day that I wish i could make him stay the age he is forever. He is still SO loving and sweet. But I know that will change soon. And I wish it didn’t.

  23. How cute! Ive got a 3 yo and seriously I love this stage. However, I wish I could say hes potty trained. Ugh. Such a pain, but hopefully by the end of the summer.
