Last Saturday was “Serving Saturday” at Cross Point. Even with the cold and dreary weather conditions almost 500 men, women and children were spread across greater Nashville to share their time, talent, hearts and their love with hundreds of people in need.
Jett was one of those 500. I have no doubts Jett experienced a day he’ll soon not forget. He and Pete started at Emmaus Church helping with landscaping and renovation projects. They then moved to “tent city” in downtown to help feed the homeless.
These two photos were captured in tent city by one of my absolute favorite photographers. I can’t thank him enough for capturing this moment for me.

I’m so proud of my boys.
I’m so proud of Cross Point.
Feels good to be a proud momma and a proud pastor’s wife.

These are fabulous frame-worthy photos and really show Pete’s servant heart. That gentle protective arm. Father leading Son. It just doesn’t get any better than that! Save these for the graduation montage that will be here before you know it. I can ony imagine how proud you are of Cross Point…and your boys.

That is just so wonderful. And what a great experience for Jett…..to experience helping those who are underpriviledged. No doubt he will remember this experience and the time with his dad too.

I looked at the other photos and was touched by these other men. My father was once homeless (now he is living a normal life), and to just know that he could still be in that situation just breaks my heart. Sometimes it is easy to dismiss the “unfortunate people” by just thinking that we are fortunate. These are people with real hearts and hurt like we all do. God loves them as much as he loves us. Thanks for this great post.

That is so awesome! Truly something that Jett and Pete will remember forever.
Our church is participating in Shine ‘09 here in Jackson, MS. I have debated back and forth whether or not to take my 10 year old… he made a decision on his own, he’s going. And he said, he’s going because God told him to!

This is great. If only we would all suck it up (and I speak to myself on this one) and do this not just as a ‘one-off’…I love the idea of these serving saturdays, and it’s something MBC have been looking at – actually cancelling the normal ’sunday services’ once a month so we can all go serve our city.

Can I also say how much I commend you guys for including Jett in this? I reckon a lot of parents would have not let their kids come with them for fears of their safety or whatever – which is understandable. But as you say, I’m sure this is something Jett is not going to forget, and you’re teaching him so much about how Jesus lived his life and challenged us to live ours.

Thanks for sharing wonderful pictures from what had to be a great day for your family and for Cross Point. The love shown to those in need makes me so thankful for what He has done for us. I will be praying for those in need that your Church served on Saturday.
Blessings always to you, your family and your Church,

Brandi,
Those pictures are absolutely fabulous and makes me want to come to see you every “Serving Saturday” just to experience this seemingly awesome experience!! I am going to try to come to Nashville and attend one of the many services at Cross Point, so I’ll keep in touch if I can find a day! I love you Brandi!!
