Boys and Boobs

See these boys of mine…

dsc_0262

They’re a mess and keep Pete and I on our toes.  Take last week for instance.  They all three came up from the basement shirtless, pointing at their armpits and asking if we knew what “these” (speaking of their armpits) were called.

“We know what we call them, but why don’t you all tell us what you call them,” we countered.

“Boobs!” they all shouted and doubled over giggling.

And because I figure they’ll find out what boobs really are soon enough and spend a fair amount of time thinking about them I simply answered, “You’re right.”

  1. They are seriously cute kids…..my word!
    That is a riot.
I love that you didn’t correct them. It’s so true, they will know soon enough.

  2. classic!

  3. Oh dear! I love it!

Just wait til they start making noises with their pits!

Oh – and my boys are always quick to point out they have pecks!

    Funny Monday post!

  4. so cute! I just can’t imagine having three boys — WOW!

  5. Hilarious and SO three boys. My three boys have “Boys Night” with their dad and take off their shirts–not sure what it is about shirtless=boy but it is definitely a BOY thing! :)

  6. HA HA!!! Yeah…let ‘em keep on thinking that for as long as possible! I’ve got a funny story that I can’t share on the ole family blog about another body part that my boys named. They were a little off base too. I still haven’t corrected them.

  7. Oh so cute! Love that you didn’t correct them. Boys are so fun!

  8. Take lots of pictures of those “boobs.” Soon they’ll have hair on them, and that makes me want to cry!

And I have a feeling your title might bring you some new readers today…

  9. Hilarious!!!

  10. Too funny. I assume you had to add a new ‘label’ to your blog because of this cute story.
Out of the mouths of babes, they NEVER cease to amaze me:)
    Blessings to all of you,

  12. So cute- the boys, the pics and their BOOBS!

I wouldn’t tell them any different either.

  13. That is hilarious! Cracking up over here since I am in “girl” world. :)

  14. boys never cease to amaze me with what comes out of there little mouths.
my two boys are 3 & 10 months…so, i’m sure in the years to come we will have stories very similar to this!
    i love that you didn’t correct them…:)
with that title you might get some new readers…

  15. BK Flashback to when her own lil bro was around Gage’s age, and ran up to her lifted up her top (in front of kitchen full of people) to see what was under it….much confusion to the big lumps on his big sister’s chest saying ‘What are those?!?!’

    *blush*

  16. Conversely, my then 4 year old daughter pointed to her chest and informed me that she had “nickels”.

  17. Nice move!

  18. Our boys also came in shirtless one evening asking if we had bought our tickets….to the gun show. Taking that moment to flex what little muscles they had while pointing proudly to them.

  19. Seriously????? My boys say the same thing! I thought we were the only ones with body confusion issues that we are not willing to deal with quite yet!

    Hysterical!!

  20. Seriously????? My boys say the same thing! I thought we were the only ones with body confusion issues that we are not willing to deal with quite yet!

    Hysterical!!

  21. hahahahahahaha…

I would have loved to have heard the pow wow they were having in the basement… someone coming up with the thought and trying to figure it out. They may be rough and tumble boys, but I guarantee they were in the basement giggling like little girls ;)

  22. Great pictures! Bruiser has already begun calling them bubbles and Punky has always called them bug bites. :) I’m not big on teaching proper terminology before they’re old enough not to blurt it out in public, so bubbles and bug bites it is! And don’t even get me started on what Punky refers to as Brusier’s “other belly button!”

  23. Haha! I hope I have such luck with my boys :-)

  24. That’s too funny! I bet they always keep you hoppin’!

  25. Absolutely hilarious!!!

All I’ve ever known is girls. ‘Had 5 of them—no boys. I just can’t imagine my girls even looking at their armpits, much less naming them.

    Boys.

  26. I love the pictures more then anything but that is soooo funny!

  27. That is AWESOME!! So they think that “boobs” go in rather than out? Interesting… Well that will be a pleasant surprise someday! :)

  28. oh now that’s priceless. :)

  29. Your boys will be President some day cause they are so wise

  30. That is soo cute. I love boys. My only child is a 4 year old boy and I’m expecting our next. I’m sure we’ll have a GREAT conversation about boobs once the baby is here and I start nursing him/her. Good times!

  31. Looks like I need to bring by my old anatomy textbooks and have a lesson…

  32. Now that is hilarious.

  33. hilarious! so excited to hear I won Marla’s book. i couldn’t find your email address, so I’ll leave my info here.

  34. I’ll never forget the time my youngest who shall remain nameless came home from school in about 1st grade and told me “hey Mom, did you know that girls have Virginias?”

Yeah, I told him he was right, too.

@Gitz – I’ve listened in on those basement pow wows. They were hysterical. And I got caught a few times. Good memories!

  35. Your mom posts make me happy. Thank you for that.

  36. Thanks for sharing! How funny!!! That’s great!

  37. That is hilarious! My girls refer to their arm pits as “arm picks.” We laugh every time they say it.

  38. i hope they dont ask what their bellybuttons are

  39. Okay, that last line was fantastic.

  40. what on earth are those kids doing!~!!!! they should get in big trouble for that!!!!!!
