I’ve mentioned just a few times my great affection for Nashville. We’re just a few minutes from downtown, but feel totally tucked away in the “country.” It’s like the best of both worlds.
Just the drive to and from Jett’s school gets me back in touch with my small town roots. I pass some spots which are country as far as the eye can see.
Many of the roads are lined with these amazing old stone fences.
Part of my drive follows along this little river.
In this little river lives a BIG beaver who scared the bejeezes out of me while taking this shot when he jumped back in the water to head into this dam he’s building.
If I were more on top of things I would have taken these pictures about five weeks ago when the leaves were brilliant with color… but why ruin my slacker status by thinking ahead?
The last part of my drive takes me down this lane and into the hustle and bustle of everyday life!
The backroads are one way I take a little time to slow down… in a world of constant stimulation, backroads are one time I allow my mind to pause and enjoy all life has to offer.
What about you? Backroads or fast lane?

Backroads for sure!

i think in general i’m more of a fast-lane girl, but i do love me some backroads serenity and peace. my favorite is a canopy of trees over the road.

Wow, what a beautiful drive you take. I am really starting to like it here as well. My drive doesn’t look like yours but I have gone down some really beautiful streets. We are still in an apartment in the Cool Springs area until our house in Fl. sells… bummer. I loved the last post!! I was laughing out loud about you crazy girls having so much fun!

I like to be close to the city but just as close to the beautiful country. Fortunately we found that here. I don’t live on a back road but within 2 min. I can be in the middle of country. I love it!

I am lucky enough that I get to take back roads all the way into work. Such a beautiful drive. There is lots of wildlife………a few less turkeys than last week.

Lots of open spaces here in CO too.
Just saw you are looking for your Harry Conick Jr CD- he has a new one out this year too. He is my absolute favorite- I would love a “bum shot” of him:)
By the way, I am a friend of Amy C here in the Rockies.

Your drive is beautiful! I’m a backroads girl myself. We just moved to the country, yet we’re only 15 minutes from town. I’m loving our country home!

backroads.
Had a panic attack once trying to drive through Nashville!
I’m a small town girl. Most of our roads are backroads.
And I like it that way!
Beautiful pics- especially for a slacker !

Back-roads are where my heart is, but it’s so easy to get caught up in the rush. Really, that’s why we are living in the mountains right now. We’re trying to learn to slooooow dooooown.

I already miss Nashville, NOW I really miss Nashville. Brandi, those pictures are simply beautiful! I love them. Makes me remember are drive by the Belle Meade.
I loved that about Nashville. Its so the city life but a short drive to fill like you are in the country away from it all.

Definitely a backroads girl. Sometimes I will take backroad trips and try and get myself lost. One time I ended up near Huntsville, AL.

There are no backroads in Vegas. At least not in the sense you are talking about. By backroads we usually mean avoiding freeway or strip traffic. Beautiful pictures though!

I love taking the backroads, and luckily for me the town I live in is essentially all backroads. Unfortunately, I have to take the main roads in order to get to work in a reasonable amount of time.
You and Pete are incredibly good at taking pictures, how do you do it?

Oh, these are beautiful! And it makes me ache for farm life… I loved growing up on an acreage… I wouldn’t have traded the quiet and space for all the world.
You couldn’t have a more ideal drive to school.

Definitely backroads! Living in CO, the scenery is fantastic. But do you know what I miss?? Needing to dim my lights at night when someone passes. Living in the city, I can’t remember the last time I turned on my brights. Maybe I’m in need of a good backroad adventure again.

My personality and heart is backroads big time. I love the fastlane or the city in small doses and in short spurts. I grew up in Arkansas so I think its also in my DNA.

But the backroads lulls me.
In San Diego, they are all parking lots anyways (freeways).

No question……Backroads. The country lane from Fairview into Leipers Fork is the only way to go!! I love the early morning drives through that area.

I’m a little of both. However, I must say you have made me a bit jealous with your recent posts – the views in Nashville are amazing – first Keith Urban’s hinney and now these beautiful roads. Could life get any better? : )

Brandi, I have never commented before but these pictures of TN just take my breath away… Our family moved from Michigan to Arizona about a year and a half ago. I like it here but ever since we visited TN in 2005 we have wanted to move there. We just love it!! We don’t know if that is in the Lord’s plans for us so for now I’ll just live vicariously through your’s and Angie’s blogs
I found you through bring the rain and I check up on your hubby’s and your site once in awhile. You have a great family!
