My friend, Tam, posted this list earlier this week and I found it so interesting I had to share.
Yahoo.com listed “The 10 Most Disappointing Treats for Trick-or-Treaters” and I found the list fascinating. Basically when people gather together seemingly unimportant information I find it fascinating… I’m just easy to entertain! Here they are folks!
Toothbrushes
Raisins
Candy Corn
Smarties or Necco Wafers (do we have necco wafers in the south??)
Dum Dum Lollipops
Apples
Hard Wrapped Candies
Laffy Taffy
Fun-Size Candybars
You can read the whole article HERE if you also happen to enjoy a grouping of random information like myself!
We’ve got a mix of tootsie rolls and fun-size candybars. Guess we’ll be sending home some disappointed trick-or-treaters! My rule is to basically buy any candy that I don’t like… that way the bags won’t tempt me into an uncontrollable sugar high!
What treat do you all hand out to trick-or-treaters?

First of all, anyone who is sad about their laffy taffy … I’ll take care of that for you. Especially the banana. MMmmmm….
I actually ordered my candy about a week ago (what would I do without the Internet?) but it was delivered quickly and I’ve been eating it. I finally put it on a high shelf so it would physically hurt me to reach for it in the effort of not eating it. Yeah, all that did was put me in pain more often.
I used to have so much self control… the good old days…

I can see the toothbrushes apples, and raisins, but the other stuff is what we’d get growing up! Are they just mad the fun sized are small? They must’ve asked some spoiled kids! I don’t have a house, so kids don’t come my way.

What’s not to love about little candy bars?
And banana laffy taffy–yum!
Do people really pass out apples? Isn’t that kind of Snow White scary?

I have never done halloween candy…and right now we live in apts…so there probably wont be alot of trick or treating round here.
but i probably would do candy bars and mixed candy….mmmmm. i may go so i can get my candy fix for the year.

Aren’t fun-size candy bars the point of Halloween?
Those are what we are handing out…sorry greedy kids!

Today is National Candy Corn Day! Yet another piece of useless trivia.
I’m with those above….I’ll take the banana laffy taffy any day.
And I’m all about a Tootsie Roll.
I think Smarties are the worst.
(I’m saving the Milky Ways though. I made your recipe using them and the crescent rolls. Wow! Pure bliss I tell you.)

I ate the candy that my wife bought, so I guess we’re not giving out anything.

I didn’t like getting those big white taffies that were wrapped like bubble gum. Yuck.
I am having a hard time thinking of mini candy bars as a bad gift.
@Sara my kids love banana taffy too
@angie, I’ll take those smarties

We don’t get trick or treaters. Last year was our first year home for TOT and I bought tons of candy and not one kid came. I almost cried. Sad.
Maybe Elias and I should come to your house. lol.

Same here. I buy anything NOT chocolate, then I won’t eat it before it’s even time to hand it out

I usually buy a big bag of everything. But for the trick or treaters who are really too old to be trick or treating and think they can get my candy without a costume? They get leftover Valentine candy or maybe some canned goods.

24 hours from now I will have a house full of junior highers… gave our home over to our junior high pastor for outreach… usually we help with fall festival… this year’s outreach will be in full Halloween mode in light of seeker friendly… even having a root beer keg (yes, I said root :0)… kind of silly but hopefully will be a blast. I have to admit I am a bit over whelmed. Ok, lot! :0) This was a really funny post – I have a friend who gives out sugar free lolli pops and play dough… when her kids are older I am sure there will be protest. Maybe I should try tomorrow w/ junior highers. Just kidding!
Blessings and have a great time candy-festing tomorrow!!!

I think that as long as it is in fact CANDY I dont know why it matters… AS long as it is not Candy Corn, whoever thought that was good???? People who give out Fruit/toothbrushes to kids are just mean

Who in their right mind would be disappointed with fun-size candy bars??? That’s just CRAZY talk right there!!!

Raisins? Uh, not for Halloween. Candy Corn–gross and not worth wasting good stomach space on. Necco and Smarties? Again…not worth wasting good stomach space on. Dum Dums…not bad, not good. And now that I think about it…same for tootsie rolls…
Apples for Halloween??? Perhaps covered with caramel!

okay first of all, tootsie roll= disappointment I totally get! But I am grief stricken that a kit-kat would be on any worst list….It just goes to prove how ungrateful people really are!
How about I just do a TRICK!:0 Oh my!

My mom gave out Dum-Dum every year because they were cheap.
I give out fun-size candy bars in hopes that no one stops by our house so I can eat the leftovers. (It’s bad, I know.)
Since we’re out with our kids we don’t get very many kids at our house because we’re not home.

This is our first year EVER to do Halloween. I’m planning to pass out Bible verses and a little tract about the four spiritual laws.
Wha? That’s not a good idea?
Humph.

I saw that list on Yahoo. They suggested full size candy bars!!!
Here’s the thing, I guesstimate that I eat 1 piece of candy to every 2 that I hand out…now, with 400 houses in my subdivision I’d be taking in 200 full size Butterfinger’s tonight!
I’m sticking with the fun size!

Seriously? People have some nerve complaining about anything that’s GIVEN to them for FREE. Ugh! This is my least favorite holiday. Sorry for the rant, but I’m old. and grouchy. (However, I didn’t like Halloween even when I was young. and not-as-grouchy.)

We didn’t do trick or treating this year as we visited Prague. but next year I plan to be one of those parents who hands out the toothbrushes. My friend also makes her kids chose 15 pieces of candy from their bags to keep and the rest goes the Hexen (Halloween witch) in return the children get 2 books each. That is the new plan for our family next year. We also talk about Reformation Day in our house as it is the day Lutherans celebrate Martin Luther nailing his 95 thesis to Schlosskirche to began the Reformation from the Catholic church

Okay, well, I totally disagree with most of that! Tootsie Rolls, fun sized candy bars, candy corn, and necco wafers/smarties are all great! Toothbrushes and raisins do stink though. I’ve gotten both of those before… lol.
We normally give out fun sized candy bars. I think…
