Please Make Her Healthy

A recent prayer from our sweet Gage…

Dear God,

Thank you for my friends

Thank you for my family

Thank you for Mrs. Kim

Please help me get married one day

And please help her be healthy

And then make me a Daddy

And make sure we move out of my Momma and Daddy’s house

Amen

I’ve debated blogging this prayer for a couple of weeks…. but something just kept nagging at me to share it.  I think because it so perfectly illustrates the sweet spirit of my middle son.

I love that he prays for his wife to be healthy rather than pretty… I’m sure that will probably change over the next few years.

Then he prays to be a Daddy…. I firmly believe that is because he has such a great Daddy in his life.

And finally he prays to move out of our house.  That’s actually a big step for Gage because he’s always told me he wants to live with us forever!

My biggest prayers for Gage are that he keeps his sweet spirit, he continues his thoughtfulness for others, and he’ll continue to be comfortable expressing his emotions.

  1. So very sweet…

  2. There couldn’t be anything cuter than that prayer. Oh my word!

  3. This is one of thos profound snapshots that you will always hold in your heart…maybe even share at Gage’s rehersal dinner one day…
It reminded me of something my (one and only ) son said when he was about 9 years old…(he’s 24 now)
“Momma, I’ll take care of you when you’re old. But if my wife won’t let you, you’ll have to live with Bethany.” (Bethany is my oldest child)

I pull that out and think of it often and remember his tender (and practical!) heart…Blessings to you and yours today~

  4. This is adorable! I firmly believe that our boys want to be dads because of Heath, too.

  5. I LOVE little Gage! He’s so sweet! Last night, when the boys were over, he would run to check on Palmer to make sure he wasn’t scared while we were all playing. How cute is that?

  6. That is such a sweet prayer! Thanks for sharing!

  7. I am doing okay thank you for your prayers. We are under 4 weeks now so this is good. The babies are doing great so I am just awaiting the big day. I really look forward to meeting you and your husband one day!

  8. oh my gosh!! you can’t get any sweeter than that!!

  9. @Pete and Brandi, great job. You guys are wonderful parents, thank you for sharing that aspect of your lives. Blessings.

  11. Thats awsome

  12. How very sweet!!

  13. that is just the sweetest. I know you hope he stays that tender. His wife will love him for sure if he stays that able to express tenderness and emotion.

  14. Preciuos!

  15. So sweet!

  16. That is absolutely precious! Which doesn’t come as a surprise since Gage is absolutely precious as it is! When my little brother was really little, he would pray for “the sick and the sad and the lonely” (and end with “Hey man!” instead “Amen”). :) Mom says he still does at 14!

  17. Brandi-
This is such a reflection of the joy, thoughfulness, and tender hearted love you and Pete give sweet Gage. He already is aware of himself as much as he can be at age 4.
You have to cut and paste this prayer and read it on his wedding day. Seriously, how awesome would that be!?! Way to go, mom and dad. :)
Ok…so can we arrange a marriage for my Avery or Annalise? he he

Hey, me and my husband our planning our 10 yr trip to Nashville in November. He has to be there for a conference anyway so I am joining in and will hit downtown Nashville while he is busy one day.
We should finally meet and do lunch. :)

  18. How come he isn’t praying to sleep in his own bed?

  19. Cute!

  20. Too cute.
I have never known a sweeter guy named Smoke.

  21. That is so sweet! Thank you so much for sharing that.

  22. I think he and Claire should hook up! Something about the sweetness of the middle child gets me every time. . . .

  23. What a very sweet little boy you have.

  24. So sweet!

  25. That is the sweetest prayer! Be sure to remember to include that in his wedding toast!

One of my favorite prayers from my 4 year old daughter included this line: ‘Thank you for church that we don’t be lonely.’ Amen!

  26. love it :)

  27. Bless his beautiful little heart!

  28. So Sweet… Now that warms the heart :)

  29. What a sweet spirit he has…

  30. Oh my goodness, I too pray for my kids spouces, that Christ would be holding them closely till that spot in time when paths cross… to have your own boy make that connect is so special and tender reflection of your dear heart. Thanks for the warm fuzzies. Made my afternoon.

    Blessings,
    Roxanne

  31. I love the prayers of kids! Love it that he has a dad he wants to be like. I pray for a world full of boys who have dads they can look up to and whose prayers are sincere! We have a middle son who keeps us laughing too. Lately his prayers have included: God thank you for grandma, help her not to be so stubborn and to take her pills. Or: God thank you for 3 meals today, and…the average amount of snacks. Gotta love those little boys~

  32. That is so sweet. And an adorable picture, too.

  33. How precious! I am glad you shared!

  34. thank you for sharing this. it moved my heart and brought tears to my eyes, esp. the healthy wife part.

  35. i swear im gonna eat that boy up when i see him!

my sons prayer would go like this…

please make my wife a good cook. please let me be a professional drummer for a living and let my wife have muscles so she can help carry my drum set. and please make my mom and dad have a bigger house by then so they’ll have room for us.

    thanks! and amen!

    [sorta]

    ;)

  36. The good news for Gage, is that he can find a wife who is both pretty and healthy…just as I have done!

  37. This is precious!

  38. I am a little upset that he didn’t say “And please make her be just like Ms Marla”!!!

  39. thanks for sharing this sweet prayer. just another reminder that God wants us to come to him as a little child. innocent and honest. :)
we pray for our girls future spouse but how cool to think there may be a little boy out there already praying for his wife……………….. how do you feel about arranged marriages? :)

  40. Brandi, that is so SO sweet!

What a kid! And what a prayer :)

  41. That is awesome!!! I love the innocent and pure prayers and conversations from children.

I have fun with my conversations with a 5 year old posts. Gavin is always shocking us with stuff he says, I wish I had it all on video for the memories.

When Tristan starts talking clearer there’s no telling what he will say! :)

  42. That is the cutest thing I have ever read!! I wish the guys my age were that wise and thoughtful!

  43. OH MY GOSH, that is the Best prayer ever! maybe I need to start praying like that for my Husband!

  44. Aww, Gage is so SWEET! I love it. :) Thanks for posting this. It’s precious.
