Does anyone else do this?
Yes, I wash my kids’ Crocs in the dishwasher. I just thought everyone did but when I mentioned it to a friend the other day she gave me a little cock-eyed look.
So, does anyone else wash Crocs in the dishwasher? Got any other easy cleaning ideas you want to share?

We don’t have Crocs, so no, I don’t put them in the dishwasher. I do throw toys in the dishwasher frequently, especially when someone in the house has been sick!

I know that if you put the crocs in the dryer it will shrink them a bit. Gotta try the dishwasher thing though…
You always have the best ideas AND recipes!!

Yes, I do this, but do you know that they can shrink if the temp gets too hot? Kevin took his to Phoenix in the middle of the summer. They were in the checked luggage under the plane. It get so hot that they shrunk at least a whole shoe size.

You have to be kidding me! That is such a great idea and I am totally using it…Joel’s get so nasty! I normally just put them in the tub with him and clean him and the shoes at the same time and then rinse them both off!
I put the ball caps in the washing machine…does that count as an idea?

Good idea! My daughters backpack and lunch box needed a good cleaning so I put it in the washing machine on delicate cycle and it looks good as new! I used a toothbrush with shout to get a couple of the stains out.

We do baked potato bar at our store, to wash them we run them thru a rinse cycle in the dish washer. then we throw them into the roaster on 400 for an hour.

YES!!! I’ve done it tons. Anything of my kids that can survive the dishwasher I’m all for tossing it in there. Heck, I’m wishing I could throw my kids in there and clean them on occasion.

Yessindeede, the diswasher at the house of Roxx is for multiple uses (go to next comment if easily grossed out):
-baseball hats
-combs
-toothbrushes (that still have time but post cold)
-dog dishes
I love it!
xoxox,
Roxx

Here’s a funny one that we do after we wash our tennis shoes – we put them in the oven (on the lowest setting) to dry them. This works great in the winter when there’s not enough heat outside to dry them OR when it’s rainy outside.
Another cleaning tip (I think I’ve put this one in a comment on someone’s blog before)………use newspapers instead of paper towels, along with window cleaner to clean your glass windows, mirrors, etc. They will not streak!

Yes, I wash Crocs in the dishwasher, flip flops too. As well as baseball caps. I also do my plastic vent covers in there, and the lightbulb cover and screen up in the range hood. Once in a while I take the knobs off of the stove and wash those in the cutlery compartment.

Yes, I love this idea too. Make sure you get the straps out of the way as Jim somehow got one of mine warped during the drying phase and it would not wrap around my ankle.
Other cleaning ideas: (1)do kitchen & bathrooms first because they are the yuckiest, (2)use Comet in the bathrooms and kitchen sinks as its cheap and does the job, (3)use a Schmop or whatever you call that big flat-head mop thing with a chamois cloth on it…use vinegar & water on ceramic tile or one drop of detergent & water for hardwoods and (4) finally my biggest cleaning AH-HA is having everyone remove their shoes at the door into a shoe basket. This has kept my floors much cleaner and everyone can find their shoes quickly when needed.

Good tips. The shop vac for flies is too funny. I don’t have too many tips to offer, but here is one: if my iron or steel pan sticks, put water in it as soon as it is emptied and set it back on the hot eye. Heat it to boiling, turn it off, and wait for it to cool a bit. Scrape the pan w/ a Pampered Chef scraper when the water cools some. It is so much faster than letting it soak.

Yep the crocs go in the dishwasher. Windex makes an awesome stain remover especially for coffee or apple juice stains. Shaving Cream is a great cleaner for markers and pen marks along with soap scum. Just squirt some on your shower walls while your kiddos are in the bath and let them play and they will scrub away and not even know it.

My kids don’t wear crocs. We are the flip flop family. If putting my kids stinky leather flip flops in the dishwasher would get the clean I would. I think it’s a great idea!

I don’t know if I would do it while the dishes were in there, but I think it is a great idea.
In fact, if I am in a hurry and need to wash my clothes and the washing machine is full, I can always use the dishwasher…great idea!!!

I also do them in the washer on gentle — I am a little grossed out by the “shoes” with “Dishes” thing — but it is a great idea:) (And I have one child who ‘lives’ in (fake) Crocs – so I’m always looking for a good way to clean them!)

I actually saw this on the food network the other day…to cook salmon in the dishwasher place the salmon, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt/ pepper to taste on a sheet of foil and wrap it up (I’d probably double the foil, just to be careful). The high heat of the dishwasher with the olive oil and lemon juice basically poaches the salmon. Haven’t tried it, but am thinking of testing it out with some tilapia filets I have in my freezer next time I run the dishwasher!
