First & Ten – Family Night #2

Tonight was our second official “family night” and I chose something that really fits into our lives… football!  My two big boys (again meaning Pete and Jett) are obsessed.  Pete is finally getting his wish because he has a son who will sit on the couch and watch a football game from beginning to end, it’s all he’s ever wanted as a father!  Okay – not everything, but definitely in the top five.

Here’s everyone in their ready position.. Jett is off-sides, but we declined the penalty since he came home from school sick.

We moved onto food… aren’t those football/meatballs the cutest?  No one ate them but me, but I didn’t care, since they were so stinking thematic!

Then everyone autographed a football, just like they were football all-stars!

A game with our “Big Kick”.  All three of the boys love this game, so bringing it out for family night was extra special.

We ended the night making a few if these guys…

We originally had a game of flag football planned, but since Jett came home from school under the weather, we decided against getting hot and sweaty, which was absolutely fine by me!

Next family night will be in two weeks and I’m planning an “American Gladiator” evening!  Be ready to rumble.

  1. now that is a way cool family night for a house full of boys……and girl ;) I know those boys had a blast! Love the little meatballs. They’re co cute. Although cute is a word I don’t think you’re supposed to use when referring to football. Oh well.

  2. Your family night plans have been awesome… and very inspiring! Thanks for sharing your great ideas with us!

  3. Too cute! Love the creativity!

  4. I feel like I’ve met you…ya know, through Hollie. As far as Twilight goes, it was great and I couldn’t put it down. However, I have to say, I don’t know that the movie will hold up to my expectations. Edward looks nothing like I’d pictured. We shall see!

  5. What fun! You are an AWESOME mom!

  6. Looks fun. I look forward to seeing American Gladiator night. Thanks for the link to Heather’s site. My daughter likes this idea so much she dropped her voice an octive and said to me, “You never did that.”

I think I have an idea for a family night…I’ll post if I actually pull it off.

  7. Football Night! How fun! :)

  8. I’m afraid I can’t let my boys see this post because then they will know how completely boring their mommy is :)

  9. Looks like everyone had fun!! My son has that same Bengals shirt!

  10. Awesome! Love me some football night!

  11. That is the coolest theme night ever. (And I really like the meatballs… and the pepporoni football on the pizza, too. You’re nothing if not imaginative!)

Just curious… were you also a football player or a cheerleader? With all the testosterone in the house I didn’t know if you just gave into it or try to even it out a little!

    :)

  12. You are the COOLEST mom in the UNIVERSE!!

  13. Brandi,

    So way cool!

When I was at junior high camp they did a gladiator evening. You likely have it all figured out, although I thought I’d toss out some ideas from camp you might be able to modify for family night:

    - double stack sweat shirts to “bulk up”
    - use inflatable tube (the kind we get at a drug store for cheap) to wear around your waist to add to costume
    - have kids run one at a time from one end of room to another while mom and dad try and “knock” kids out with a beach ball
    - good ol’ fashion dad/son wrestling with costumes – could use arm floaties to add to tube rings around waist to add to fumble and bumble effects
    - get strobe lights or ball lights with colors to flash during gladiator sessions

We didn’t do the food aspect of gladiator night at camp so I’ve got nothing there…

Sorry if you already have it planned – just thought I’d toss out to add to the fun.

    Blessings,
    Roxx

    PS: Come visit WA!!!
