Have you all seen this?
According to CNN.com, this is a new form of a pedicure. You can read the full article HERE.
Supposedly these Garra Rufa fish have a healthy obsession with dead, flaky human skin. There’s been some concern over the sanitation of razors used to work miracles on those oh-so-rough spots that you find on your feet. In fact the owner, John Ho, says the fish pedicures have been so successful he’s thinking about opening a full-body fish treatment facility to help with skin issues like psoriasis.
Seriously???? I love a good pedicure, but having fish eat the dead skin off of my feet is CRAZY and a little GROSS! And from what I understand, some people might stick their feet in the same fishy bowl for a dual cleaning….how sanitary is that?
I have two words for you….. PUMICE STONE!
What do you think about this new “sanitary skin rejuvenation” method.

I agree with you! That is disgusting!!!
I love getting pedicures. Although, as I’m sitting in the chair, I have flashbacks of all the exposes that are done on those pedicure shops. I always pray, God please don’t let me get a fungus.
But I do it anyways!

It looks like it would tickle…I would try it.

There is no way my feet would go in that bowl…not even if it was fresh water each time around. That would be like human torture for me!

This would freak me out….. just like when I’m in the river and “something” touches me… YIKES…

Absolutely, totally DISGUSTING! I’m thinking your feet would have a fishy smell afterwards…gross!

I am a little grossed out by that. NO WAY. I think that I would rather have rough feet…

I’m with Laura, I would try it, I’ve heard people say it tickles. A lot of people rant and rave about it. I saw this on the Tyra show, and they also had people showing different beauty treatments from around the world, and this one seemed the least harmful/expensive, they had a snake massage, now that’s something I’d NEVER be able to do! Fish I can do!

It looks like I am the first guy to comment and although I do not get pedicures, I would definitely not allow a fish to eat dead skin off of my feet.
Just wait…most of the people saying “its gross” will go have one done after someone famous in Hollywood does it. Can’t resist the pressure.

THAT picture is why I don’t like swimming in lakes!

Funny! We saw the same program on CNN, and last week while down on Martha’s Vineyard for vacation, my husband was standing very still in waste deep water in a salt water pond inlet in Edgartown, MA. I started to walk out to him and he asked me to stop so that I didn’t scare away all the little bait fish munching at his legs and feet. No problem bud! I wouldn’t stand still long enough to let them snack on me, but Steve kept giggling saying that it tickled and felt good at the same time. He must have stood there and hour while the kids, our dog Daisy, and I, just swam circles around him. I love him, but that was disgusting!

That is TOTALLY nasty! I love my pedi @ Mimi’s and I hope they never try to add that. You can’t sterilize fish mouths and Dickson has some strange residents.

I’m with Anne.
And I can only swim in the lake until I feel something touch me and then I am done. So there is no way that I could even begin to stick my foot in a tub full of fish.

I think that would give me the heebie-jeebies! And it would probably tickle like crazy!

I saw this on CNN a few days ago and was amazed and grossed out at the same time. The good thing is that the health department now requires that each patron at John Ho’s have their own “fish bowl” for sanitary reasons. And they say that the fish never get full!! I’ll stick the the regular method.

That’s kind of like “leech therapy” on certain bad wounds in the hospitals around the country…for the record, unless I am about to die…do not let them put leeches on me!!! The same goes for fish on my piggies!

Definitely gross, and discusting! There is no way in heck I’d stick my feet or entire body for that matter in re-used water to have little fish eat the dead skin off. I feel revolted even saying that! ICK!
